A seed is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. It is the product of the ripened ovule of gymnosperm and angiosperm plants which occurs after fertilization and some growth within the mother plant. The formation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in seed plants (started with the development of flowers and pollination), with the embryo developed from the zygote and the seed coat from the integuments of the ovule. All seeds are different size, shape and color.
I seem to recall that earlier in the month I mentioned that fall was a transitional season. At least I thought about saying that…so if I didn’t, I have now. ANYWAYS.. one of the things that I’ve noticed is that a lot of the wild flowers and plants have already moved into their “dead” state for the winter and whats left are these life pods. They are the promise of renewal for the next generation. In this particular photo it looks as if the plant is holding on to these seeds. It’s fighting for its life against the colder weather, lack of sunlight and all the while holding up these seeds. Soon it’s struggle will be over. And we all now know it fought the good fight. WE will get to see its children again next year…
